2.15.0 — One miner card on recorded energy

A plant or remote pin opens one build card. The hover card is a short teaser, so the old pair of different-sized popups does not stay open. The card uses the same ASIC menu as a methane site. The count cannot pass the kilowatts the file supports. Optimistic hashprice stays labelled, with the network-derived rate beside it. Power price starts at the site-wide 0.04 USD/kWh and is editable. Zero is not used. No generator and no carbon credit are added.

2.14.0 — Province boundaries and river polygons

Province shades and the emission, revenue, and renewable choropleths use the 2021 Census cartographic boundaries. Statistics Canada generalized them. Parts under 100 km² are dropped. A rectangle is used only if that file fails to load. Hydrokinetic open water (81) and possible water (59) are clickable polygons from the official shapefile. A click names the river and the community. Ice is not painted. The community coordinate is not a second pin. The query service still returns no rings.

2.13.1 — Southern Alberta, line search, plant-file age

One preset, Southern Alberta, turns on methane sites, solar plants and solar GHI, and frames the map from the border to just north of Calgary. The infrastructure group can be searched by owner or line name. Montana Alberta Tie flies to that official point. The corridor is still not drawn.

2.13.0 — Official energy atlas on the map

Solar GHI and solar DNI from the live NRCan service paint under the pins. A slider sets how strong the wash is. Wind-speed and geothermal-gradient rasters are not in that service, so they are not invented. Hydrokinetic open water (81) and possible water (59) paint from the official map image. The query service returns no polygon rings. Ice is not painted.

2.12.4 — Map Layers card, footer hit-areas, welcome card reopen

The Map Layers card anchors below the sticky navbar (it used to slide up under it and clip its own heading) and now collapses/expands with a chevron so the full map is reachable underneath. Footer source links (ECCC Open, NRCan plants) are real 44px targets again — they were inline links in a wrapping paragraph, so on a phone the next line stole the tap band.

2.12.3 — Map layer ticks show and hide

Unticking Methane Sites empties the pin source and hides the cluster layers. An idle listener keeps them hidden if the style was busy. Heatmap, province colour, satellite and terrain no longer wait for the map's one-time load event. That event has already fired, so the old wait never ran.

2.12.2 — Map layer ticks actually show and hide

Unticking Methane Sites now removes the pins. Ticking it puts them back. The box used to change and the map ignored it. Satellite, terrain, heatmap and the province colours follow their own boxes. Unticking satellite also leaves the street or dark map underneath, instead of a blank screen.

2.12.1 — Pins stay visible, Dark map is a real map, welcome card scrolls

Dark basemap no longer uses the CARTO tile that stamps “API KEY REQUIRED” over the map. Dark is now Esri’s public dark-gray canvas, which needs no key. Methane pins stay above satellite, heatmap and province fills, so turning a layer on cannot cover them.

2.12.0 — Official Canadian energy overlays on the map

Map layer panel gains **Official energy overlays**. Off by default, so the methane pins are unchanged until a layer is turned on. 1,049 Canadian renewable plants (1 MW or more) from NRCan NACEI, split into wind, solar, hydro, biomass, tidal, pumped storage, geothermal and other. Geothermal is in the legend with a count of 0 — the official file has no Canadian geothermal plant at that size. We did not invent one.

2.11.1 — Fix: dark bar behind the map HUD pill

**The map HUD had a long dark rectangle stretching past the visible-count pill** on `/map/`. Cause: the jewel-glass rule in `app/globals.css` targets `.map-command-center [class*="hud"]`, which also matched the **full-width outer wrapper** `div.map-top-hud`, not just the inner pill — so the wrapper got a gradient + border + shadow painted across the whole strip. **Fix:** reset the wrapper only (`.map-command-center .map-top-hud` and its `:hover` → `background: transparent; border: none; box-shadow: none; backdrop-filter: none`). The inner `.map-top-hud__inner` pill keeps its own solid background, so the count, `/ 2,611 visible`, **Pin proof** badge, geolocate button and BTC ticker are untouched.

2.11.0 — Data refresh to the 2024 GHGRP year + honest recency/flux

**Data is current** — refreshed from ECCC GHGRP's 2024 reporting year (1,745 sites now on 2024 filings, newest `reference_year` 2024); a site's `last_reported_year` is stored and shown so a 2011 figure is never presented as current **Never assert venting/flaring we cannot prove** — the venting/flaring split exists only for facilities that report a fugitive source (oil & gas). Landfill gas is filed under "Waste", so for those sites the flux UI says *no claim* instead of a false "not flaring"; `flux_scope: fugitive | not-applicable` records it

2.11.0 — Site cockpit: the miner stack explains itself

**Hover before click** — a pin hover now teaches: name, measured CH₄/day, Stranded Score and *"Gas supports up to 468 miners ≈ $/day"*, computed with the same helpers the cockpit uses (vector pins **and** DOM markers) **Click → a cockpit, not a form** — header badges first (data recency `ECCC 2023 · high confidence`, flux when the dataset carries it, "verify this yourself"), then **one big number** (sats/day + $/day), then the miner-stack visual, then the readout strip, then **"How this number is made"** (hashprice used, above/below the network-derived estimate, power-cost assumption, data year)
